While you were sleeping last night, we arrived at the Phi Phi Islands. The weather is approximately perfect... sunny and mid-80's with light breeze. Our coral reef conservation program is being conducted in cooperation with Andrew Hewett and the Adventure Club on Phi Phi. We had a 2:00 briefing and orientation at the dive shop today. Andrew laid out the plans for the next 9 days and I can tell you that the students are all very excited to get started.... started tomorrow morning at 7:00 a.m. One of the students commented that she was pleased that we could "sleep in" for a change. Phi Phi Island is one of those few wonderful places in which there are no motorized vehicles, except boats coming to and from the island.... only foot traffic and a few bicycles. There are quite a few European and Australian tourists here. I think we are about the only Americans that come here.... pity... sooo much better and far less expensive than Hawaii for an exotic tropical vacation.
I am trying to figure out how to post photos to this blog, but I have not been successful yet. The Add Image option appears to work, but the request times out before it finishes... and I've downsized the photos only 300 KB. I need some advice.
